Florida School Crossing Guard Program of the Year

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) biennially recognizes a crossing guard program(s) that exemplifies the fields’ professionalism and sense of responsibility for the safety of children in the community it serves. The Florida Department of Transportation’s School Crossing Guard Program of the Year Award is presented every other year (on School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day-the first Friday in February) to crossing guard program(s) that have shown outstanding service in the support of pedestrian and traffic safety, and a dedication and commitment to the duty of crossing children’s in a safe manner consistent with the crossing procedures and techniques outlined in the uniform training guidelines.

Agency of the Year nominations may be submitted via e-mail to cgadministrator@dot.state.fl.us, via fax at 850-414-4221 or mail/deliver to (Attention: FSCGP) FDOT, Safety Office, 605 Suwannee Street- MS #53, Tallahassee, FL 32399-0450.

You do not have to use this form, but you are encouraged to consider the criteria outlined in the form when nominating a guard for consideration.

More than one page may be used, and supporting documents (letters of recommendation, media coverage, or any other document or photo that supplements the application or is too difficult to summarize within the application itself) are welcomed.
